Health audit process a source of concern
As much as I appreciate the state verifying that retirees are living ethically, I'm puzzled how the audit process guarantees that.
The targeted group is asked to provide items that often don't exist and guarantee nothing.
For example, in my case, properties and financials are not jointly held. There are no joint loans. Although I'm married, a joint bank account doesn't guarantee that. I received my audit letter seeking IRS documents on Oct 5. On a good day, getting a request answered by the IRS can take weeks.
In my mind, the process is a nice try but no guaranteed cigar. Timed with the CMS health care announcement, my already frayed nerves are even more so.
