Employees have served township well

I wanted to write a quick letter of support for Jamie Willard and Kim Hooper, who were recently fired from their longtime positions at the Cunningham Township assessor's office.

I had the pleasure of working with these two individuals while employed as a Champaign County Board of Review member, and also for a short time as interim supervisor of assessments for Champaign County after the resignation of Joe Meents.

Jamie and Kim, along with Deputy Assessor Katie Moore, have exemplified public service during their time with Cunningham Township. They have come to work, even when their prior boss often didn't. They have treated the people of Urbana fairly and always responded to requests for help or the needs of the township or Champaign County.

It is a very sad day for the people of Urbana with the loss of these two individuals from their positions in the township, and it will take months, maybe even years, to replace their knowledge of the city, its businesses and its people.
