Davis opposes election protection

Election integrity is a nonpartisan issue. When we cast our ballot as individuals, we deserve to know our votes and our voting systems are protected.

In January 2017, the intelligence community published their assessment of activities of Russians to impact the 2016 elections. In their report, they said that although "the types of systems Russian actors targeted or compromised were not involved in vote tallying," it is true that "Russian intelligence obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple U.S., state or local electoral boards."

How did Rodney Davis respond to this assessment? In early February 2017, as vice chair of the Committee on House Administration, he helped push through the Election Assistance Commission Termination Act (House Resolution 634). Even though this committee is the group charged with overseeing federal elections, Davis personally voted to defund the only federal agency that defends our elections and voting systems against attacks.

Thankfully, HR 634 seems to be dead at this point since no actions have occurred since that date, but Davis' vote remains for posterity.
