Jones is looking out for families

On March 20, I will proudly cast my primary ballot for Democrat Erik Jones of Edwardsville. Erik grew up in southern Illinois where he learned the values of our blue-collar communities, and I support Erik's campaign to represent me in Congress because he has a long track record of looking out for families like mine.

While working as an attorney for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, Erik Jones investigated President George W. Bush's mishandling of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. As an assistant Illinois attorney general, Erik continued to rout out wrongdoing by the powerful. He pushed for legislation protecting Illinois workers from predatory fees imposed by big banks. In a political environment characterized by a Congress and president who refuse to address Russian meddling in our democracy, Erik Jones is the best choice to clean up Washington.

For me, it's not just that he's devoted his life to public service, but rather that Erik has always been a stalwart advocate of the middle class and has stood up to rich special interests. It's past time that we sent a bulldog to Congress who will sniff out corruption and fight for families like ours.

Erik Jones has earned my vote.
