Letter to the Editor | Democrats didn't invent 'Far Right'

In her letter on June 7, Deanna Henningsen states as facts that "There is no such thing as The Far Right" and that Democrats "Invented The Far Right."

The political labels of "right" and "left" were in use during the French Revolution (late 1700s), and subcategories such as The Far Right and The Far Left quickly developed in the early 1800s. The Democratic Party was founded on Jan. 8, 1828. It appears to be something short of rational to state that the Democrats "Invented The Far Right," since there was no Democratic Party when the term "Far Right" was first used.
