Letter to the Editor | Special counsel serves the public

Far from being a rebuke to the notions of equal justice and public accountability, a special counsel is appointed to serve in the public interest.

Recall, it was President Richard "I am not a crook" Nixon who last interfered in a special counsel investigation — and we all know how that turned out.

As far as the special counsel being unelected: The nine Supreme Court justices are also appointed positions, and most folks are OK with that — (other than Sen. Mitch McConnell at times).
