Letter to the Editor | Kids need more parental guidance

We live in an era of mass murders, violence and cruelty. To the point we have become numb to the insanity.

Why then was I drawn to a recent article in The News-Gazette?

Allegedly, four boys assaulted an 11-year-old boy, displaying a gun at one point and taking his bike and cash.

I think back to my youth. Mischievous on occasion. TP'ing a friend's house or soaping car windows.

I learned much from my parents.

My father opened doors for others. And stood to shake hands or when a woman entered the room. My mother was kind and respectful.

I watched and I learned right from wrong.

Parental guidance is the missing link in society today.

The alleged crimes are very serious and should be dealt with harshly.

I don't know the answer. But I see the problem.
