Storm victims need our help
Recent storm victims could use your help.
As people return to work today from a three-day break, they may regret that their time off is over and look back wistfully at the pleasant interlude the Memorial Day weekend represents.
But not everyone enjoyed their time off. Victims of destructive tornadoes, most recently in Joplin, Mo., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., before that, have had their lives turned upside down. There are other serious victims of storms and floods as well.
A lot of people are hurting, and, consequently, many others have stepped up to help. Last week, the First Christian Church in Champaign left for Joplin, Mo., to deliver three truckloads of supplies.
We all can't provide direct help. But most of us can write a check that will improve the ability of helping organizations, like the Salvation Army or the Red Cross, to assist those in need.
Think about it, and lend a hand to those organizations that lend a hand.
