Saw the new commercial. A lifetime of service by public employees is not one when employees retire at age 52. The "average" pension benefit proclaimed by unions includes everyone who retired years ago and who are now age 80 plus. How can the state proclaim that "we are all in this together" when the proposed budget pays 100% of pension obligation but very obscenely does not pay the back log of unpaid state bills. Why are we not paying those who are providing goods and services to the state of Illinois in favor of those who do absolutely nothing? Until public pensions are willing to give up something, anything, they get nothing in my book just like the day care providers who worked for the state but then were told they would not be paid.
