In the lower Mississippi Valley, drought is developing. During the week ending May 20, the portion of pastures in Arkansas rated in very poor to poor condition increased from 11 to 23%.
In the West, nearly half (45%) of California’s rice was planted during the week ending May 20.
The 6- to 10-day outlook calls for above-normal temperatures from the central and southern Plains to the East Coast, with wetter-than-normal weather from the upper Midwest into the East Coast.
