ATHENS, Ga. — Illinois seniors Dennis Nevolo and Roy Kalmanovich ended their collegiate tennis careers Friday at the NCAA Championships.
Nevolo, seeded seventh, lost 6-4, 6-3 to ninth-seeded Blaz Rola of Ohio State in singles. Nevolo and Kalmanovich dropped their Sweet 16 doubles match 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-1 to Ohio State's Rola and Chase Buchanan.
"It was a disappointing end for two great players," Illini coach Brad Dancer said. "I'm proud of both guys for all of their team and individual accomplishments. They have represented Illinois with tremendous class and spirit during their time here."
Nevolo, who earned All-America honors, recorded 116 singles victories and 95 doubles victories in his career.

Riley leads Illini parade. Illinois' Andrew Riley and Stanley Azie advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 100 meters Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas.
Riley set a school record, clocking 10.03 seconds, and Azie finished in 10.18.
Riley also won his heat in the 110 hurdles in 13.56 to qualify for today's quarterfinals.
UI senior Kyle Engnell qualified for nationals in the 3,000 steeplechase, placing second in his heat.
Freshman Ashley Spencer finished fourth in the 400 in 52.16 to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships.
Jesica Ejesieme claimed a spot at nationals in the 400 hurdles, posting the 10th-fastest time of 57.74.
