CHAMPAIGN — Three sisters who allegedly got into a fight with an Urbana woman in Champaign Wednesday night were criminally charged Thursday with aggravated battery.
Additionally, Cherise Holliman-Adams, 42, of the 2900 block of Santa Ana Road, Champaign, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon for allegedly producing a knife during the fight. She's alleged to have hit and kicked the woman.
Her sisters, Charonda Holliman-Adams, 41, also of the Santa Ana Road address; and Kathy Harris, 37, of the 1600 block of West Bradley Avenue, Champaign, were charged with aggravated battery for allegedly hitting the woman with a hammer and kicking her.
Champaign police Sgt. Dave Griffet said the altercation apparently grew out of a domestic dispute that had occurred earlier in which one of the sisters was involved. All three sisters later confronted the other woman in the 1700 block of West Bradley Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Cherise Holliman-Adams is due back in court July 3 for a probable cause hearing. Judge Tom Difanis set her bond at $7,500.
The other women were released on their own recognizance and told to be back in court next week with an attorney.
