TUSCOLA — Two people were taken to an Urbana hospital Tuesday morning following a three-vehicle accident in a construction zone about 2 miles east of Tuscola.
Illinois State Police at Pesotum said the accident happened at 8:15 a.m. on U.S. 36 westbound, just west of Douglas County Road 1250 E.
Police said Jordan A. Scribner, 18, of Tuscola failed to slow down for vehicles that were stopped ahead of him at the Tuscola Stone Co. for a construction zone flagger.
Scribner's pickup truck hit the rear end of a car driven by Linzie M. Nichols, 19, of Newman. Her car then hit the rear of a van driven by Kate A. Capell, 25, of Hume.
Police said Nichols and one of two passengers in Capell's van, Kendrick Capell, 1, were taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana by ambulance. Both were treated and released.
Scribner, Kate Capell and Emma Capell, 3, were apparently not injured.
Scribner was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
