CHAMPAIGN – Illinois will play USC in the Maui Invitational.
The Trojans and Illini tip off at 11 p.m. (Central) on Nov. 19. It appears to be a favorable matchup for the Illini. The Trojans (6-26, 1-17) last season were arguably the worst team in the Pac-12 but add several transfers and previously injured players to the roster.
The Illinois-USC winner gets the Texas-Chaminade winner on Nov. 20.
Illinois is making its fourth appearance at the Maui Invitational. The Illini are 6-3 with second- (2000) and third-place (1987) finishes at the Lahaina Civic Center. Illinois also has a road game at the University of Hawaii prior to this year’s Maui Invitational.
Illinois also will host Colgate (Nov. 9) as part of an expanded Maui Invitational field. Illinois advances to Lahaina regardless of the Colgate result.
