CHAMPAIGN -- Police are still seeking a suspect after a 22-year-old man was shot in the 1100 block of North James Street in northwest Champaign on Sunday afternoon.
According to a press release, the victim told police he was walking in the area around 4:40 p.m. Sunday when he was shot by an unknown male. He was being treated for non-life threatening injuries on Sunday night at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Officers received information from witnesses about the suspect's possible whereabouts. Police immediately began searching the area, according to the release, but could not find the shooter.
On Monday morning, police released a description of the suspected shooter. He is descibed as a light-skinned black man in his early to mid-20s, about 6 feet tall with a medium to heavy build, with short hair and a closely trimmed beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts.
