URBANA — An Urbana man who allegedly had cannabis intended for sale in his home has been criminally charged.
Evan Castaneda, 19, who listed an address in the 200 block of North Gregory Street, was arrested Monday evening following a search at his home.
University of Illinois police Sgt. Tom Geis said UI narcotics officers who had been investigating Castaneda obtained a warrant to search his home. They found about a quarter-pound of cannabis (135 grams), $1,353 cash, and a digital scale. They also seized cell phones that appeared to contain text messages about cannabis sales, Geis said.
Castaneda was charged Tuesday with possession with intent to deliver cannabis. If convicted, he faces sentencing ranging from probation to two to five years in prison.
