As school year nears, seminar focuses on food allergies

URBANA — How do you keep your child safe from a food allergy at school?

Parents are being invited to a free seminar focusing on kids going back to school with food allergies to be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at The Forum at Carle, 611 W. Park St., U.

There will be speakers addressing food allergy topics each hour: At 4:30 p.m., parents will learn how to coordinate a food allergy plan; at 5:30 p.m., parents will get tips for a safe school year; and at 6:30 p.m., the topic will be food allergy basics. People attending aren't required to stay for all three hours, according to Carle.

Seating is limited, so people planning to attend must call ahead to reserve a place by calling 326-0180.
