DANVILLE — CRIS Healthy Aging Center will sponsor a senior citizen emergency food pack distribution.
The food distribution will be 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Mondays through Fridays throughout August at the CRIS Center Community Room, 309 N. Franklin St., Danville.
The emergency food packs are prepackaged and contain dry staples with enough food for five meals. The five-day emergency food pack consists of assorted canned foods, soups, cereals, nuts, cheese, juices, packaged fruits, crackers, condiments and dried milk that would provide a senior with five balanced meals. Any senior in Vermilion County, age 60 and over, can receive an emergency meal pack.
To receive one of the food packages, seniors need to come to the CRIS Center weekday mornings from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and fill out a registration form to receive food. Seniors can receive up to two boxes if desired. There is a suggested donation of $2.50 per box.
