[2]We've got a modest wine 'cellar'. It all started when we took a trip to Napa Valley in 2009. We sent home a few cases of wine and decided that we needed to store them correctly and it went down hill from there. We 'collect' moderately priced wines and eventually they need to be consumed. So on lazy Saturday nights we choose a bottle and then select a meal to go with it.
One bottle that was on the 'drink soon list' was the 2006 Wente Cabernet Sauvignon. I started out looking for inspiration in the Wente cookbook that I bought at the winery. There just isn't really anything in that book that specifically recommends a Cab Sauv. So on to the internet to see what I could find. My search led me to the AllRecipes.com website for the top 10 recipes to make for pairing with this wine. I picked Filet Mignons with blue cheese and a Port wine reduction for the main dish.
John brought in a generous handful of garden green beans to go with dinner. We always like (lumpy) garlic mashed potatoes. I was thinking about a green salad, but we have some gazpacho in the fridge that needs to be eaten... so we settled on the menu.
