URBANA — An Urbana teen has been charged with breaking into a neighbor's home Monday.
Devon I. Hart, 17, of the 2800 block of East California Avenue, was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday at his home.
Champaign County sheriff's Lt. Ed Ogle said a neighbor in an adjoining block returned home about 5 p.m., found the home forcibly entered and called police.
Ogle said another neighbor had apparently seen Hart discarding items taken from the home in a garbage tote. Deputies found two jewelry boxes belonging to the victim in the tote.
When they went to Hart's home to speak to him and his mother, they also found a digital camera that belonged to the neighbor whose house had been entered.
Hart was charged with residential burglary. If convicted, he faces a mandatory prison term of between four and 15 years.
Judge Rich Klaus set Hart's bond at $5,000 and told him to be back in court Oct. 24.
