The Illinois Department of Transportation said it will suspend all non-emergency road work at 3 p.m. Friday, and open traffic lanes where possible through Monday.
But many construction zones with lane closures will remain in effect, according to IDOT.
Following are projects where lane closures will remain in place over the Labor Day weekend:
— Interstate 57 south of Buckley at milepost 270 in Iroquois County where bridge work will keep one lane closed in each direction.
— Lake of the Woods Road over Interstate 74 in Champaign County where traffic signals are being used.
— Illinois 130, 3 1/2 miles south of Philo, in Champaign County, for a bridge replacement, where traffic signals are in place.
— Vermilion County Highway 10 just north of East Lynn at Fountain Creek, where traffic signals are in place.
— Illinois 116 between Illinois 115 and Interstate 57 in Ford County, remains closed for bridge replacement. A posted detour uses parallel U.S. 24 between Illinois 115 and I-57.
— Illinois 16 east of Charleston in Coles County, for a bridge replacement, where barrier walls and traffic signals are in place.
