CHAMPAIGN — Retiring U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson will be hold town hall meetings tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 5) in Watseka and Thursday in Gilman,
The meeting in Watseka will be at 7 p.m. today at the Watseka City Hall, 201 Brianna Drive.
The meeting in Gilman will be at noon Thursday at the Gilman City Hall, 215 N. Central.
The six-term congressman will be available to discuss federal issues while staff will be on hand to address individual constituent concerns with federal agencies.
Johnson, an Urbana Republican, announced in April that he would retire from Congress after his current term. He was elected to the House in 2000.
He represents the 15th Congressional District, which includes all or parts of 22 counties in eastern Illinois.
"I will continue to hold these meetings as time permits for the remainder of my term," Johnson said. "I may have announced my retirement, but my responsibility to listen has not ended."
