Rob and I were browsing at our favorite place this weekend, the PACA Architectural Warehouse.
We bought a final piece of door hardware to cover the inside doorknob hole of our bathroom barn door . It's a plate like you'd see on a swinging door. I painted it black and it makes the inside of the door seem much more finished.
In the same bin where we found it, Rob spied a brass kickplate and wanted it for our front door. I agreed. I figured it would make our door look more dignified.
We cleaned it up (and found that one side looks more like copper, which I love). Then, when Rob went to put it up yesterday, we discovered it's too tall for our door. The first set of panels in our big, old door, is 7 1/2 inches from the bottom. The kick plate is 8 inches tall. This is what happen when you buy hardware on an impulse.
The kick plate is too big for any of our other doors, barn door included.
So. Now we have this cool kick plate that we can't really return. I found one idea for making a sign using a kick plate , but I'm looking for other ideas, as well. Anyone have any? I feel like my creative juices are totally shot on this one.
