DANVILLE — Police on Monday said they have identified the man who robbed a branch of the Old National Bank last Friday as 26-year-old Frank P. Sutton of Danville.
Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said detectives identified Sutton through video surveillance, which recorded the robbery at the Old National branch at 2431 N. Vermilion St.. He said Sutton was charged with two counts of robbery on Monday, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Sutton remained at large late Monday afternoon.
During the robbery, a man entered the bank around 2 p.m. and presented a note to a teller, demanding money. The man did not display a weapon or imply that he had one.
The man was given an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses reported seeing a man run from the bank to parking lot of a Wendy's restaurant across the street and get into a white Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Sutton is a white male who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes and no facial hair, although a police photo taken in 2010 shows him sporting some type of goatee.
Thomason urged anyone with information on Sutton's whereabouts to contact police by calling 911 or Vermilion County Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
He said Sutton should not be approached by anyone other than by law enforcement personnel.
