GIBSON CITY — A railroad crossing in Gibson City will be closed for about a week starting Monday, Oct. 1, to allow the Norfolk Southern Railroad to rebuild it, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.
The grade crossing is located on West First Street, a road that also serves as state routes 9, 47 and 54. During the rebuilding of the crossing, which is estimated to take about seven days, traffic will be rerouted, IDOT said.
Drivers are urged to use caution and expect some delays while traveling the detour route.
