URBANA — The Champaign Urbana Theatre Company has received a $2,000 grant from Target Corp. for its Broadway Beginners Education Program.
The grant will help fund the program by helping to cover expenses not included in the tuition fee, such as royalties for scripts and marketing.
CUTC will use about $1,000 of the grant for its upcoming "Annie Jr." production that will end its Broadway Beginners educational program for students in grades 6-8. The four-week program starts Oct. 25; spots are still open for students.
In Broadway Beginners, the children work on acting and all other aspects of a production, leading up to the presentation of "Annie Jr." on Nov. 17-18. For more information or to sign up, call 344-3884.
The grant to CUTC is part of Target's efforts to build strong, safe and healthy communities nationwide. Target has a history of giving 5 percent of its income to communities and is on track to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015.
