HOMER – William L. Mullins, 76, of Homer passed away at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, with Barry West and Dave Ashby officiating, with burial in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home.
Mr. Mullins was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Benton Harbor, Mich., a son of Walter R. and Sarah E. Evans Mullins. He married Eleanor M. Voyles on Aug. 7, 1954, in St. Joseph. She passed away on July 30, 2006.
Surviving are one son, Robert (Jerri) Mullins of Homer; one brother, James A. Mullins of Altoona, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Jennifer Mullins. He was preceded by his parents and one sister, Katherine Musson.
Mr. Mullins worked in several different departments at Alloy Casting in Champaign, including quality control and new processes. He was a member of the Sidney Christian Church.
He enjoyed gardening and doing volunteer work, and he loved antique tractors.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Sidney Christian Church or Homer Fire and Rescue.
