URBANA — Help with Medicare Part D enrollment will be available for the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
A Medicare Part D community meeting and enrollment event will be held in the hospital auditorium at 1400 W. Park St., U, starting at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. for registration.
The program will include speakers on topics about navigating the enrollment process.
State. Sen. Mike Frerichs, D-Champaign, and state Rep. Naomi Jakobsson, D-Urbana, are expected to be on hand to talk about their pending legislation to restore drug assistance to needy seniors.
The state's Illinois Care Rx program that helped low-income seniors was cut from the state budget.
Enrollment counseling from Champaign County Health Care Consumers, Family Service of Champaign County and Senior Health Insurance Program counselors will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to Health Care Consumers.
Open enrollment and opportunities for making changes in Medicare Part D plans ends Dec. 7.
Residents of southern Vermilion County can also receive assistance.
Georgetown Township staff members are offering to help Georgetown Township seniors find the best Medicare Part D plan for them. Seniors should bring their prescriptions, Medicare card and Medicare Part D plan.
It takes about 30 minutes, so for a shorter wait, the township advises making an appointment by calling 662-8649.
