DANVILLE — A 56-year-old Franklin, Ind., man remained hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after crashing his semitrailer tractor on Interstate 74 near Danville early Tuesday morning.
According to an Illinois State Police report, the accident occurred on the interstate about a half mile east of mile post 215 1/2 at 5:14 a.m. and brought eastbound traffic to a halt for several hours.
The report said the semi, which was heading east, left the road and went into the center median. The vehicle swerved back onto the road and overturned, blocking both lanes of traffic.
Wagner had to be cut out of the truck. He was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was listed in stable condition on Tuesday night.
Police said it’s still unknown what caused Wagner to swerve off of the road, and that the accident is still under investigation.
No tickets have been issued.
