PAXTON – Betty J. Peers, 80, of Paxton died at 7:45 p.m. Monday (Nov. 5, 2012) at the Illinois Knights Templar Home, Paxton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with the Rev. Terry L. Westerfield officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peers was born March 18, 1932, in Canton, the daughter of George and Minnie J. Johnson Karmenzind. She married James O. Peers on Dec. 13, 1952, in Canton. He preceded her in death July 13, 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Pitman of Paxton and Carol (Brad) Whitsitt of Indianapolis; one son, Richard J. (Denise) Peers of Paxton; five grandchildren, Jennifer Muck, Amanda Elam, Jessica Peers, Jamie Peers and Amelia Whitsitt; three great-grandchildren, Austin and Ava Elam and Jayden Muck; one sister, Lois Brown of Edgar Springs, Mo.; one brother, Gordon Karmenzind of Beverly Hills, Fla.; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Betty graduated from Canton High School in 1950. She and her husband lived in Watseka, Chatsworth, Gilman, Hoopeston and Paris before moving to Paxton in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Paxton. She enjoyed shopping and loved spending time with her family.
