ARCOLA – Eleanor Ruth Bright, 86, of Arcola passed away at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola. The Rev. Dave Dolan will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
Eleanor was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Champaign. She was a daughter of Fred Herschel and Alma Elizabeth Rebecca (Nofftz) Brown. She married Gerald Sexton Bright on March 12, 1946, in Arcola. He passed away on Sept. 17, 2001.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Bright and his wife, Johnetta, of North Port, Fla., Stephen Bright and his wife, Paula, of Mattoon and Paul Bright and his wife, Michelle, of Arcola; one brother, Donald Brown and his wife, Sue, of Missouri; six grandchildren, Todd Bright and his wife, Heather, of Mahomet, Taisha Albert and her husband, Van, of Cerro Gordo, Dawn Owen and her husband, Whit, of Mattoon, Joshua Bright and his wife, Andrea, of Mattoon, Lucas Bright and his wife, Stephanie, of Monticello and Matthew Bright of Arcola; nine great-grandchildren, Caleb Bright, Dustin, Eric and Lindsey Chapman, Blaize Albert, Zak and his special friend, Airelle Beasley, Andy and Izzy Owen and Landon Bright.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; and one sister, Edith Edwards.
Eleanor was a member of the New Life Tabernacle in Sullivan.
She will always be remembered as a peacemaker. She liked to go out to eat; some of her favorites were Mexican food and barbeque ribs.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
