LeROY — Concord Triopia stopped a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter before picking off a pass in the waning seconds to hold off LeRoy 22-20 in a Class 1A quarterfinal Saturday.
“It was a fan-friendly game,” LeRoy coach B.J. Zeleznik said.
With a frustrating finish.
Nic Stevens’ fourth-down 12-yard touchdown pass to Shane Bruning brought LeRoy within 22-20 with 3:45 left in the game, but Triopia broke up the conversion pass. The Panthers regained possession after a defensive stand and drove inside Triopia territory before an interception ended LeRoy’s first trip this deep into the playoffs in 10 years.
“We had a great group of kids,” Zeleznik said. “On any given day, they were as good a group as there is in 1A.”
Cory Eastham rushed for 92 yards and a TD and Bruning added 77 yards and two TDs.
