MAHOMET – Beverly K. Brown 74, of Mahomet passed away at 6:05 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 17, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
It was her wish to be cremated. There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, for family and close friends at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer. Following the service there will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 28, 1937, in Soap Lake, Wash., a daughter of Orville and Dorothea Wray Shepherd. After her parents' death she was then adopted at age 10 by Norma and Elmer Taylor.
She married Audrey "Wally" Brown on March 2, 1963, in Rantoul. He survives. Also surviving are three children, Troy (Teresa) Brown of Philo, Todd (Kelly) Brown of Urbana and Tiffany Brown (Myron) of Murdock. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ty and Rylie; and one brother, Don Shepherd of Cinncinati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Ind. She then attended Butler University with a music scholarship, specializing in piano in Indianapolis, Ind.
She was a member of the Broadlands Community Church in Broadlands. Her hobbies included camping, cooking and playing euchre. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Beverly K. Brown Memorial Fund in care of the family.
