MANSFIELD - An Urbana man was treated early Saturday for injuries he received in a drunken driving crash in Piatt County.
Illinois State Police at Pesotum said at 4 a.m., Vance T. McQueen, 20, was driving east on Interstate 74, about 2 miles east of Mansfield, when he left the road. His car then came back on the road, went across all the lanes and off the road again, where it hit a tree.
McQueen was wearing a seat belt and was not ejected. He was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he was treated and released.
He was issued tickets for driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage.
Aside from the dui, I think this shows the importance of wearing a seatbealt. Not only was he lucky not to hit anyone else but he pretty much walked away from what could have been a fatal accident. I hope the seriousness of this doesn't escape him.
Not charged with underaged drinking?
