DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College trustees on Tuesday will discuss extending President Alice Jacob's contract.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting is in Vermilion Hall, Room 302, at the campus, 2000 E. Main St. A copy of the agenda and board packet is available online at http://bit.ly/Tg0Whv .
If approved, Jacobs' new contract would run through July 1, 2015. "The board has been very appreciative of Dr. Jacobs' leadership since she came to DACC ... and we look forward to extending her presidency," vice chairman David Harby said last week. "We have the utmost confidence that the college is in good hands."
The recommendation comes following a performance evaluation of the president on Oct. 30.
Jacobs, the college's sixth president, took the reins in 1999.
Harby noted that under Jacob's leadership, DACC has been committed to increasing not only access to higher education but also college completion among students, a goal set forth by President Barack Obama, the American Association of Community Colleges and other community college organizations.
"It's important to get students enrolled," Harby said. "But we also have to focus on helping them reach their educational goals, and that's something Dr. Jacobs and this board have been working on."
