A Fisher man has been sentenced to prison for burglary.
Brandon Hinds, 27, of Fisher, was sentenced to eight years in prison for residential burglary. He pleaded guilty to breaking into a home on June 26 in the 1900 block of County Road 2600 N near Thomasboro. Two televisions, jewelry, a laptop computer, cash and a 9 mm Glock handgun were stolen.
The gun was later recovered by police in an unrelated case.
Court records show Hinds had prior convictions for possession of alcohol and manufacture of a controlled substance.
In exchange for his plea, the state agreed not to file charges against him in two other burglary cases investigated by Champaign County sheriff's deputies in which Hinds was a suspect. That office received reports of at least six residential burglaries between May 30 and June 26 around Rantoul, Penfield and Fisher.
