URBANA — A man was taken to an area hospital Thursday night following a robbery in Urbana.
According to Urbana police, a 22-year-old man was walking to an apartment building in the 400 block of South Busey Avenue at 8:41 p.m. Thursday when he heard another man approaching him from behind.
When the victim turned around, a man hit him in the head with a handgun and knocked him down to the ground. The robber then took a backpack and fled southwest between two other buildings.
The description of the robber was incomplete, but the victim said the robber was wearing a black ski mask and a blue-and-white checkered or flannel shirt or jacket.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he received treatment for what police described as minor injuries.
