CHAMPAIGN – Patsy L. (Pointer) Demlow, age 72, has gone to her glory on Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2012). She was a resident at the Champaign-Urbana Regional Rehab Center, Savoy, for 2 1/2 years.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to the nurses and staff at the CURRC for all of the loving care that they provided to Patsy during her stay with them. Also a special thank you to the team at Harbor Light Hospice.
Patsy was born to Eloise Hunley Pointer and Pearl D. Pointer on June 2, 1940. She married Charles W. Demlow on July 27, 1958.
Patsy will be missed by Chuck, along with their three children, Sharon (Tom) Schaffer of Allendale, Mich., Kim (Chris) Lamanske of Urbana and Doug Demlow of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Keith Schaffer, Mandi (Josh) Miedema of Michigan and Ray Lamanske and Kaley Lamanske of Urbana; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Schaffer and Maci Miedema of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law and a brother-in-law, Michael Demlow.
Patsy graduated from Champaign Central High School. After being blessed with 12 years of being at home to raise her children, Patsy went to work at the University of Illinois, where she worked for 24 years before retiring from her position as the executive secretary to the dean of the Executive Development Center. She very much enjoyed her work at the university and attending the football games with a large group of longtime friends.
Patsy also was very creative and enjoyed learning and sharing new arts and crafts projects. Patsy and Chuck did a great deal of traveling after retirement and spent quite a few winters in Pharr, Texas. She was also a member of the Elks Club.
A service to celebrate her life will be at Morgan Memorial Home at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday. Pastor Gary Fairchild will officiate. Burial will be in Monticello Township Cemetery, Monticello.
