HOOPESTON – Elizabeth L. Malady, 94, of Hoopeston passed away at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2012) at Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 21, 1918, in Vermilion County, Ill., near Ambia, Ind., a daughter of James Vincent and Anna Ruth Lannon Jennett. She married Eugene E. Malady on April 11, 1953, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2007.
She is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Smith of Lafayette, Ind., and Sally Sheppard of Hoopeston. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends, Fred and Mary Zemke. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Jennett and Bernard Jennett.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family, playing bridge, and genealogy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick O'Neal officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church. Brown-Alkire Funeral Home is assisting the family.
