CHAMPAIGN – Sister Mary Robert Morton, 73, died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 5, 2012.
The local visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Provena Covenant Medical Center Chapel, Urbana. A wake service will commence at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Mary Catholic Church (612 E. Park St., Champaign). There will be an additional visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Provena St. Mary's Hospital Chapel in Kankakee, with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. A second funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Provena St. Mary's Hospital Chapel. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Beaverville.
Sister Mary Robert was born March 22, 1939, in Peoria, a daughter of Robert and Marguarita (Marra) Morton.
She entered into the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary on Sept. 8, 1957, and professed her vows on Aug. 22, 1960. Sister Mary Robert graduated from Mundelein College in Mundelein in 1963 and conducted her dietitian internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Sr. Mary Robert was dedicated to Provena Covenant. She has held many positions of responsibility through the years which include food service director, dietary supervisor, Pastoral Care Chaplain, Director of Pastoral Care and Provincial Counselor.
