CHAMPAIGN – Kevin P. Mauney, 46, of Champaign died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 9, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
There will be no immediate services. A gathering of his friends and family to celebrate his life will occur closer to the holidays. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mauney was born on Sept. 29, 1966, in Rantoul, the son of Paul Mauney of Raleigh, N.C., and Michelle Moore Mauney of Urbana. They survive.
Also surviving are two sisters, Paula Hearnes of Urbana and Karen Torres of Raleigh, N.C. He is also survived by an extended family and very close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Irene Moore.
Mr. Mauney was the general manager at the Putt Zone in Champaign, formerly Putt Putt Golf. Kevin also worked for many years at Hobbico in Champaign.
He loved photography, music and playing guitar. He was an avid Cubs fan.
Kevin had an amazing sense of humor. He was creative and clever. Kevin was a good friend to everyone who always put others before himself.

We knew Kevin through the Cline family and remember him as a warm, funny and kind young man who always had a warm greeting for everyone. We enjoyed Thanksgiving meals shared with the Cline family and him. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
