DANVILLE – Harold V. Perry, 87, of Danville passed away at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Harold was born July 5, 1925, in Potomac, the son of Robert L. and Edith (Wyman) Perry. He married Norma Biddle on Jan. 1, 1950, in Potomac. She preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2009.
He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Nicholson of Potomac, Cathy (Mick) Harmon of Pesotum and Connie (Dave) Kittell of Danville; seven grandchildren, Meredith (Shane) Grant, Brooke (Corey) Lanter, Ryan Weber, Nolan Harmon, Travis (Naomi) Killion, Whitney Killion and Christopher Killion; six great-grandchildren, Casey and Carly Grant, Samuel Lanter, Ethan and Avalynn Weber and Eli Loreto; special cousin, Merle McConnell of Atlanta, Ga.; and lifelong friend, Helen Dalbey of St. Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter, Linda Perry.
Harold graduated from Potomac High School in 1943. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Harold was a lifelong farmer in the Potomac area. He was a former member of the Henning Church of Christ and has attended the Potomac Church of the Nazarene for several years. He was also a member of the Potomac American Legion.
Harold enjoyed reading, telling stories, eating pie, playing scrabble, watching Illini basketball and playing with his dog, Buddy. His life was spent spending time with his family, and he would always be seen attending any family function.
A Celebration of Harold's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Potomac Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Burial will be in the Potomac Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Potomac American Legion. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac.
