URBANA – Marie Spangler, 92, of Urbana passed away at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2012).
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home. The Rev. J. Michael Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayview.
Mrs. Spangler was born June 12, 1920, in Tompkinsville, Ky., to parents Charles and Verdie (Proffitt) England. She married Emmet Spangler on Nov. 10, 1946, in Decatur. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1976.
Survivors include son, David Spangler (Rebecca) of Tolono; daughters, Linda Ainslie of Morganfield, Ky., and Norma Spangler of Champaign; sisters, Pauline Eaton of Bruce and Lucille McKenzie (Paul) of Sullivan, Wilma Wiley of Sullivan, Marilyn England of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; grandsons, Michael David Spangler (Rhonda) of Lafayette, Ind., Jason Ainslie (Deena) of Morganfield, Ky.; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Spangler attended First Baptist Church of Urbana. She worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown in Champaign as a gown checker for many years before retiring. Marie enjoyed cooking and gardening.
