URBANA — A Chicago man has been sentenced to six years in prison for having heroin intended for sale in Champaign in late October.
Lawfette Johnson, 27, pleaded guilty before Judge Heidi Ladd to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, admitting that on Oct. 31, he had between one and 15 grams of heroin in a duffel bag on a bus at the Illinois Terminal in downtown Champaign.
Illinois State Police arrested him. More serious charges alleging he had between 15 and 100 grams of heroin intended for sale were dismissed in return for his plea.
He was also ordered to pay about $3,200 in fines.
