URBANA – Helen Woodruff, 84, of Urbana, formerly of Tolono, passed away peacefully at 1 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 22, 2012) at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Sadorus United Methodist Church with the funeral services at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Rob Adams and the Rev. Kathy Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Craw Cemetery, Sadorus.
Helen was born April 15, 1928, a daughter to Ozro (Doc) Cruse and Linnie Faye Coatney Cruse of Louisville, Ill. She married Donald W. Woodruff of Sadorus on June 1, 1946. He survives. Other surviving family members include a daughter, Shirley (Tom) Palmisano of Tolono; a granddaughter, Stacy (Matt) Kuzba of Racine, Wis.; a grandson, Jason Magsamen of Pesotum; and great-granddaughter, Charley Helen Kuzba of Racine, Wis.; two sisters, Mary (Bill) Whitworth of Selah, Wash.; and Rita (Charles) Drake of Chesapeake Bay, Va.; three brothers, LeeRoy Cruse of Flora, Archie Cruse of Louisville, Ill.; and Lyle Cruse of Yakima, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ellen Cleora Cruse, Ruby Eckel; and brothers, Donald Cruse, Marion David Cruse and William Dale Cruse.
Helen worked for 22 ½ years in the credit and accounting department of Sears Roebuck & Co. She was a member of the Sadorus United Methodist Church and served as the church's bookkeeper for many years. She loved sewing, crafts, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and her new great-granddaughter. Her family and friends will miss her deeply.
