CHAMPAIGN – Bernice M. Lacy, 101, of Champaign died at 8:32 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 20, 2012) at Maple Ridge Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Mount Hope Mausoleum, Champaign. The Rev. Jim McClarey will officiate. Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy, is handling arrangements.
Bernice was born Oct. 15, 1911, a daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Bucholz Berger in Lincoln.
She graduated from Lincoln schools and Lincoln Business College. She attended Amos Parrish School of Fashion, Chicago.
She married Francis E. Lacy on Sept. 6, 1943, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death.
Bernice worked for W. Lewis and Co., Ramey Distributing Co., Bilderback Investment Trust in Champaign and the State of Illinois, from which she retired in 1988.
She is survived by a nephew, James Brackney of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Bernice was a member of the Friends of the Champaign Public Library and of the Red Hat Club. She enjoyed volunteering, reading and flowers.
