RANTOUL – Don Cyphert, 77, of Rantoul went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his home surrounded by family.
A celebration of life was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove Ave., Rantoul, with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating. Visitation was from 4 to 6 Wednesday at Lux Memorial Chapel.
Don was born April 15, 1935, in San Diego, Calif., a son of Dave and Margaret (Brauner) Cyphert. He married Lorrene Kemnitz in October 1955. He married Janie Pierce Llach on March 11, 1976, in Rantoul. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Vickie (Kim) Miller of Puryear, Tenn. (formerly of Gibson City), Vince (Paula) Cyphert of Gibson City, Lisa Llach Corley of St. Joseph and Jolene (Jeff) Gensler of Rantoul; a sister, Joi (Tom) Grawrock of San Diego; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Lindsay, Chase, Jennifer, Justin, Austin and Makayla, six great-grandchildren and two half-sisters: Dale Cyphert of California and Barbara (Fred) Thompson of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Don served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. He then worked as an instructor in Civil Service at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, for 11 years. He was an avid golfer and loved classic cars and hot rods. He also enjoyed his rock-n-roll. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs and his family.
