Senior guard Adrienne GodBold is eligible to play for the Illini women's basketball team in Friday night's game against No. 6 Georgia, UI coach Matt Bollant said Friday morning.
GodBold, the 2011-12 Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year, missed Illinois' first 11 games this season after being declared academically ineligible for the fall semester.
The Chicago native was named team MVP and shared Illini Defensive Player of the Year honors with center Karisma Penn last season after averaging 9.6 points and ranking second in steals and blocked shots. In Big Ten action, GodBold averaged 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. In her team's final eight games, the 5-foot-11 guard averaged 15.6 points.
After Thursday's practice, Bollant indicated that he would start GodBold against Georgia is she was cleared to play. She will take the place of redshirt junior forward Kersten Magrum in the starting five, he said.
