FARMER CITY – David Eugene "Gene" Reeser, 69, of Farmer City passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Joe Williams American Legion Post 55, 755 Stensel Drive, Farmer City. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 N. Main St., Farmer City, is handling arrangements.
Gene was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Clinton, a son of Harold G. and Virginia P. Gray Reeser.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Reeser of Monticello; a brother, Harold Gray (Carolyn) Reeser of San Diego; and two sisters, Phyllis Anne Reeser of Monticello and Marietta Jill (Larry) Nixon of Arlington, Va.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Harold G. Reeser, and a brother, Teddy Carlyle Reeser.
Gene was also considered a member of the Gammage Family of Farmer City, with whom he resided for 47 years. He is survived by Dana Gammage Dupuis, Bruce Gammage and Meg Gammage-Tucker. He was preceded in death by Robert, Jeanne, Greg, Ginny, and Seth Gammage.
Gene had been a clerk at the Gammage Law Office in Farmer City for many years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1964. Gene was a member of Joe Williams American Legion Post 55 in Farmer City, where he was a past commander. He was also a past commander of the American Legion's 19th District, member of the 40/8 and Farmer City Masonic Lodge 710, and had been a trustee for the Clark Foundation of Farmer City.
