TOLONO – William "Bill" Maxwell, 93, of rural Tolono passed away at 11:30 p.m. Monday (Dec. 31, 2012) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, with Rev. Steve Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1919, in Pesotum Township, the son of Earl and Lulu Shores Maxwell. He married Margaret Woodworth on Jan. 17, 1953, in Champaign. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Nancy (Keith) Dalenberg of Georgetown; a son, James (Becky) Maxwell of Tolono; three grandchildren, Sara (Dustin) Kessinger of Champaign, Michael (Sarah Pforr) Maxwell of Pesotum and Andy Maxwell of Tolono; three step-grandchildren, David Dalenberg of Danville, Daniel Dalenberg of Bloomington, Ind., and Annah Dalenberg of Georgetown; and a great-granddaughter, Adelyn Maxwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister.
He was a farmer all his adult life, an elder of the Tolono Presbyterian Church for many years, a trustee of the Bailey Memorial Cemetery and member of the Mariner's Group for several years.
